The Voices of Eastern State Audio Tour
Sean wrote and produced the original Voices of Eastern State audio tour in 2003. It uses innovative audio effects and extensive oral history recordings to guide visitors through the prison. It has won numerous awards.
More than 2 million people have taken the tour to date. It remains the primary interpretive tool used at the site.

The new tour makes more explicit connections between Eastern State Penitentiary’s history and patterns of mass incarceration and racial disparities in the prison system today. It also updates the language to be more sensitive to incarcerated people, and includes additional perspectives on the tour’s complex subjects.
